Homes & Antiques
REGULAR ILLUSTRATION CONTRIBUTOR
Becki regularly works with Homes & Antiques magazine producing illustrations for the monthly Material Matters editorial feature and she is also frequently asked to contribute to other features for the iconic magazine.
To date, Becki has contributed illustrations to 13 issues of Homes & Antiques and their hugely successful Material Matters editorial series. Each month, the feature focusses on a particular material, showcasing its origins and how it is used today. Working closely with the Art Director to ensure the illustrations work successfully within the feature, Becki illustrates both the main opener image on a colour wash, as well as a background pattern, reflective of the material’s look and feel, for use throughout the remainder of the feature. Each of Becki’s illustrations are completely unique, appealing to the antique-loving reader, and work cohesively alongside previous and future illustrations for the Material Matters series.
For their January 2019 issue, Becki was commissioned by Homes & Antiques to illustrate a feature on the top 10 shopping streets. The article took readers on a whistle stop tour of Britain’s best streets for antique shopping, highlighting vintage emporiums and treasure troves. Working closely with the Art Director, Becki created hand lettering and a playful illustration of each of the featured streets, from Frome, the jewel in Somerset’s crown, to the majestic and handsome York. Becki ensured a consistent, fun style across each of the illustrations, and with the feature spread across 8 pages, Becki was thrilled to have been commissioned for a piece which was so integral to the first issue of 2019.
