Creating a faux christmas wreath display

Last friday I spent the day working on making wreaths for a local charity shop window display and thought I’d pop a quick DIY here for some whimsical faux wreaths perfect if you want to get crafting early this year or you are creating a display that has to last a few weeks.

You will need:

Firstly I hung my wreath up by a ribbon, just I find it a lot easier to work standing up looking at the wreath rather than it flat on the table… I pulled each of the stems out so that they were all facing the same way and evened up the wreath so it looked balanced.

Then I took a couple of the berry stems and began securing them around the wreath base all pointing in the same direction. Where the stems are made of wire they are easy to bend round and secure and you can easily move the foliage on the wreath base to cover any ends of the stems. I love these white ones as they have a bit of a wild whimsical feel about them..

I then added some of the pinecone stems, these are great because the pine cones are clustered together making the wreath look fuller and also each of the individual pine cones is on a seperate wire meaning you can bend and move them in the directions you’d like…

I wanted the wreaths to have a modern feel about them so kept them quite minimal sticking to the white and red colour palettes and also not cluttering the base too much, the quality of the faux foliage on the base is great so it’s nice to let that be on display too…

Let me know what you think of these, could you be converted to faux wreaths this year? Hobbycraft have made it really easy to make gorgeous looking wreaths with minimal effort too, the range of floral picks and stems is amazing and there are lots of different themes to choose from.

Thank you to Hobbycraft for supplying all the materials for this project, it was a charity project so I’m very grateful that the materials were kindly gifted meaning the charity could have a window to be proud of!
