Seasonal musings from the studio- February
Welcoming February with a sense of excitement as we head into the second half of winter edging ever closer to the joyful days of Spring.
There’s lots to celebrate in February… you might have already spotted the snowdrops and camellias appearing bringing some much-needed floral magic to hedges and pathways, I always find it so exciting spotting these after months of embracing foliage and berries! The days are getting noticeably lighter, we will see an extra hour of light by the end of the month and fingers crossed we keep enjoying the crisp but sunny days we’ve had in January, it makes such a difference getting outside in the sunshine even with a big coat and gloves on.
Creative ways to celebrate the month of February…
Something we enjoyed in my Winter group this month was creating nature collections that embodied words. All you need to do is write down a list of words on scraps of paper, pop them in a jar, and before your next walk grab a piece of paper out of the jar to inspire your foraged nature collection. Here are a few words to get you started… Calm, Abundant, Muted, Hope, Nest, Bright.
Try something new and experiment with Resin this month. I’ve created 3 simple projects for Hobbycraft sharing how to make resin cacti, letters & these sweet vases perfect for dried flowers and grasses which have been brightening up my shelves whilst we wait for the spring flowers to arrive.
Keep it simple for Valentines day and use up old cardboard to create a sweet heart garland . I used spray paint to cover the cardboard for this garland but you could use an any paint or decorate with paint pens…
Although we are seeing lighter days the evenings still feel quite cosy throughout the month of February which means candle light is a must. Have a go at making your own candles this month adding scents that reflect your home and fill you with joy…
And finally I’m very excited to share that my Celebrating Spring 4 week course launches today. With a creative kit & 7 hours of workshops to creatively celebrate the season. I’ll be sharing more about it over the next few weeks…
