What to expect in my new book - 'Paint, Make, Create'
Firstly thank you all for the lovely feedback about the cover of my new book Paint, Make, Create. I thought I’d share a bit more about the book here so you know what to expect & how you’ll be able to use the book to help you become confident with working with paints and combining them with other crafts.
Paint, Make, Create begins talking through and explaining the different paint types that will come up in the projects, I explore watercolours, acrylics, gouache and posca pens and explain what I use each of them for and why . There are painting exercises that follow to help you experiment with each of the mediums and explore the properties of each of the paints as well as gaining confidence in your painting skills. This section is then followed by some colour theory and tips and tricks to help you create your own colour palettes as well as colour exercises .
The 20 projects that follow are inspired by seasonal living and celebrating it with painting but also include working with clay, printing, collaging, sewing and embroidery all with a fun and modern painterly twist.
Spring works through painting on ceramics to create your own floral easter eggs, paper crafting and painting cake toppers, abstract collaging and ditsy floral plant pots all with bright and cheerful colour ideas as well as styling tips for the season.
Summer explores painting onto fabric to make your own beach bag, upcycling with posca pens, creating your own floral painterly table settings for a garden party, a tablecloth printing project and modern jewellery dishes inspired by my love of seashells.
Autumn celebrates being cosy and spending more time at home and you’ll learn how to make your own candlesticks, clay mobile, printed napkins, painterly pumpkins and abstract style vase.
Lastly Winter showcases modern and traditional bauble painting, cracker painting and making, a seasonal painterly wall hanging and painting your own wrapping paper.
I’m so excited to share some of these projects over the next few weeks and a big thank you to Jesse Wild who shot the book with me, As I mentioned on Instagram it is now available to Pre Order and all orders placed through my website will be packed in the studio with a mini print to say thank you!
