Seasonal Musings from the Studio- April

Seasonal Musings from the Studio - April

Hello April!

As we head deeper into the season of Spring (although I know the weather can’t seem to decide what it’s doing), I’m always thinking of small ways to celebrate the magic of the every day as well as creatively connect to the season and month.

Creative ways to celebrate the month of April…

  • Craft a spring wreath! I’ve shared a tutorial with Hobbycraft for this simple wreath that can be crafted with just a small bunch of flowers. I used to spritz my wreaths to keep them fresh but have since found these reusable tubes which are great for hiding within the wreath as a water source for flowers.

  • Jazz up your weekend breakfasts! I had friends to stay a few weekends ago and loved making breakfast a little jazzier with the simple addition of tablecloth (actually just some fabric I threw over the table) beeswax candles, some spring flowers around the table, pastries and homemade jams! It’s a nice way to celebrate the little things.

  • Head out for a sunrise walk! The mornings have been so beautiful lately, I’m naturally an early riser and find that starting the day outside in nature always puts me in a positive headspace for the day ahead! I also love how quiet it is which always gives me space to think too.

  • Give cardboard a crafty upcycle and make your own easter garland or hanging decorations. I’ve shared some tips for making your own painterly cardboard garlands over on my creative journal.

  • If you are looking for a new podcast or something relaxing to listen to, then I can really recommend the ‘As the Season turns’ podcast from Lia Leendertz, author of The Almanac. I look forward to it each month and love learning something new or interesting about the season.

  • And I wanted to recommend the lovely Tiffany Francis-Baker’s book ‘Concise Foraging’ as I absolutely love my copy and saw she has them back in stock in her shop. The book is wonderfully informative as well as beautiful, it’s perfect for anyone who is interested in living seasonally and foraging.
