As we move through October, Autumn has well and truly arrived I’ve been enjoying the crisp sunny mornings out running and a sunshine filled studio for the month. I’ve also been busy teaching my Nature Journaling workshop over the last four weeks, it has been lovely connecting with a wonderful group of women each Saturday and working through creative ways to document the season from mark making, abstract painting, botanical line drawing, curating journals and brush lettering. I’m feeling a little sad that the month together celebrating the season as has come to an end but definitely feeling inspired to keep working and creating in tune with nature as we move into the darker days…
So if you need some seasonal inspiration and ideas here are some ways to embrace the month ahead…
Creative ways to celebrate the month of October…
Upcycle old tins into textured vases perfect for dried flowers, foraged seed heads and hydrangea stems. Using air dry clay you can give old tins, glass jars and bottles a new lease of life, you can find the full tutorial over on Gathered Makers
Make a papercut garland! Download my illustrated templates and you can use them to cut with scissors, kraft knife or a Cricut for a simple seasonal paper craft.
With the evenings closing in earlier there’s no better time to cosy up with a cuppa and try something new. This simple tactile abstract artwork DIY can be created with just one stitch and you can enjoy experimenting with autumnal colours to create your own mini artwork.
Start planning spring bulbs, If you’re unsure about where to start the lovely Charlotte from Lotts and Lots is one of my favourite people to follow for gardening tips and advice all aimed towards beginners.
Bring some of the outside in and make your own autumn wall hanging or just bring in an autumn branch to display in your home
