Bringing the outside in

Bringing the outside in

Now Halloween is over and the spooky garlands have been put away for another year comes the month of November. Although I love decorating for Christmas I’m not quite ready to get the tree out yet so for me November is all about bringing some of the outside in to create a cosy creative home that’s reflective of what is going on outside. These can be small touches like the autumn branch on my mantelpiece, dried ferns in vases or heading out foraging for springs to create larger seasonal celebrations. Here’s some of the ways I will bringing the outside in this November…

Craft an Autumn wall hanging

Using just a branch and floristry wire you can create a mini seasonal wall hanging, simply attach foraged springs along the branch grouping them together in bunches and securing along with the wire. You’ll be amazed what you can create with just a few collected leaves, stems and foliage.

Embrace dried flowers

With their lovely Autumnal colours dried flowers are a great way to bring some of the outside in and fill your vases, they’ll also last all the way through these darker months ahead. Next time you have a bunch of flowers try hanging them up to dry after they’ve bloomed to see if you can get some second dried joy out of them…

Make an Autumn wreath

Head out foraging and gather autumnal sprigs to craft your own autumn wreath, hang up in your home instead of the front door for a constant source of autumn joy! If you need some inspiration I’ve shared a step by step guide over on the Hobbycraft Ideas hub

I hope these ideas have inspired you to head outside, gather and curate your own nature magic in your home!
