How to make your own Candles this Autumn
Firstly you’ll need to pour your soya flakes into a bowl, I used 500g of flakes which made two jam jar candles. Bowl water in your saucepan, pop the bowl on top and heat to melt the flakes down. Once melted down to a liquid add in your scent, I used 5ml of fragrance per 100g of soya wax and the candles smell amazing. If you wanted to try each of the scents simply disperse your melted wax into different containers and add to each. Once stirred pour your wax into the jam jars holding the wick in place in the centre of the jar, I propped mine up using a knife which helped the wick stay central whilst setting.
Once your candles have set, cut down the wick to a couple of centimeters above the top of the candle. It really is as simple as that to make your own candles this Autumn and the perfect craft for a sunday afternoon, start after lunch and by the evening you’ll have made your candle ready for a cosy evening!
I’d definitely recommend the Hobbycraft materials linked above for candle making, it made the process really simple and I’m excited to try some more of their fragrances in the future!
