Back in July I shared the exciting news that I have collaborated with Hobbycraft on their Brush Lettering Workshop, designing the craft kit to be used for teaching their online and in store workshops up and down the country. I visited the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show at the start of the month (in the big downpours) which despite the weather, was lovely. Paint, Make, Create is my second book with over 20 multi craft projects woven together with painting that all celebrate and embrace the seasons. The first couple of chapters begin with introducing paint types, paint brush types, colour theory and covers exercises to get you used to using new materials and exploring your own creative journey with paints before delving into the 20 seasonal craft projects. I wanted to book to really celebrate creativity and encourage everyone to pick up a paint brush and get painting.
Read MoreI’ve been hunting down the perfect gingham sandal for a while now and after nearly giving up I noticed my plain black trekking style sandals in the cupboard and had a thought… why not try an upcycle! I thought about wrapping fabric around the straps but then soon realised I’d still need to be able to use the velco, then I thought I could just attach fabric into the plastic triangles because even that would give them a bit of a makeover so grabbed a piece of ribbon to try it.
Read MoreAs I mentioned in my June musings, one of the ways to celebrate the seasons is by buying locally grown seasonal flowers, I found Stem & Green a few months ago after sourcing flowers for a shoot and have since picked up buckets of their flowers for painting inspiration, styling and craft projects. After collecting a bucket from the farm a couple of weeks ago I arranged them into this large urn vase to paint, taking inspiration from the Cornflowers, Ranunculus, Anemones and movement in the bouquet I used gouache paints to capture the colours and create a loose wild floral design.
